Cross Pointe's mission is to follow God's plan for believers and the church in the Bible. In Acts 2 we see a picture of the church committed to worship, caring for one another, prayer, the study of the Scriptures, serving the community and world and sharing the gospel. This example of the early church is one that is still followed to this day.

First century Christ-followers were not called Christians. They were known both for their association with Christ--who they were--and their lives in following the commands of Christ--what they did. At Cross Pointe, we identify ourselves with Christ--it's who we are. And our mission statement defines our actions as a church--what we do. Two verses of Scripture clarify our mission as a church:

The Great Commandment

The Great Commission
[Jesus said,] "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

These verses define our mission as Christ-followers personally, locally (in our church and community) and globally (in our city, nation and world). They are often referred to by Christ-followers as "The Great Commandment" and "The Great Commission" because they give us a concise and clear understanding of God's mission for the church in these few words. In Mark 12, we know we are to love God, and to serve others. In Matthew 28, Christ commands us to share the Gospel with others.

We use a simple statement to help us remember this mission and to focus our church on these core elements:

Keeping It Simple
We desire to be church that is not overly complicated with overlapping programs and events. We are dedicated to providing effective and impacting ministries, both inside and outside the church walls, making the best use of time and resources. Our goal is not to link personal spiritual maturity and true connectedness to how many times someone shows up for an event or how many programs one attends. We seek to know how each person is growing in their relationship with God as evidenced by actively loving God, serving others, and sharing their story.

We want to help you find that place of worship, service, fellowship and commitment where God can move your life. We are committed to continually pursuing simple and effective ministry now and in the future, for the benefit of Christ’s Kingdom and our own faith family.
