Ellen Stetler
Admininistrative Assistant for Adult Discipleship, CPU and Women's Ministry
Ellen joined the Cross Pointe staff in 2008. "The opportunity to work hand in hand with the volunteer leaders in their roles as they do ministry, serving with them," she comments about her staff role. "And I so enjoy the messages by the Pastor."
Ellen's journey to Christ is interesting. "I was raised in a Jewish family. In my early 30s I was searching for 'religion' wanting our daughter to grow up with that foundation. Judaism was too difficult for my husband and so the search began," Ellen relates.
"My daughter was in a Christian day care where the Director latched onto me and began praying for me, as well as becoming a good friend. We were invited to church which happened to meet across the street from our community. God got my attention through friends praying but especially through my child who wanted to know why we didn't go to church. Soon after starting our attendance at church I gave my life to the Lord, by myself on a weekend get-away with friends.
"My Christian journey then began," Ellen says, "Not easy for a Jewish girl, but God had a great plan already designed. We stayed at that church--Fellowship Bible Church--for 20 years and I worked for 16 of them on staff."
Ellen and her husband, Doug, have been married for 32 years. "Doug grew up in Pennsylvania and I grew up in the Chicago area," Ellen says, "But Georgia is home. We've been here since the early 1970s. We have one daughter, Tracy, who is married to Jay Ford. Tracy is in geriatrics, teaches continuing education classes on Alzheimer's disease and works as a case manager in a hospital rehabiliation unit. They live in Northern California. No grandchildren--yet!"
