Eugene Mason
Communications Director
Eugene joined the Cross Pointe Staff in 2009, having served for more than 22 years in communications roles at large evangelical churches in the Southeast. "The greatest thing about serving at Cross Pointe is privilege I have to teach God's Word and to help communicate the gospel through all of the media means we have available to us," he says. "God has already brought this church to an amazing point in half a decade. The potential we have to impact both our community and the world over the next several years is truly staggering."
Eugene was adopted as an infant from Germany, and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He and his wife, Keri, were married in 2005. They traveled to China in 2007 to adopt a daughter, Eden, now 4. "Being able to live-out James 1:27 individually and as family through adoption has been a special blessing for us," Eugene comments. "Adoption is not only a picture of our relationship with God, but a ministry Keri and I have undertaken within our own family. Currently, we're prayerfully working through the process of adopting a child from Uganda."
Although Eugene has worked in a ministry role for many years, his journey with Christ actually began in 2008. "Over the years I had a great deal of experience in the church, but had missed the key element, which is a personal relationship with Christ. I knew much about Jesus, but I did not know Him personally. God had to bring me to a point of realizing there was nothing of value I could really do for God, outside of surrendering my life to Him. That commitment was made with my wife at my side, in my living room in January of 2007. So after 20 years of being a church worker, I am finally part of the church as a fully-devoted follower of Christ."
Eugene desires to help the church communicate both locally and globally. "My background is in media and technologies--and these are great tools for sharing the gospel. Communications ministry is not simply about advertising or information. It's really about using those media skills in equipping the church to know God's Word, follow His plans and purpose, and take the gospel to our city and the whole world."
