what’s the ‘reel’ story

 

As believers, we should all have a desire to be more effective in our daily lives…
to be rooted and grounded in our faith,

seeking to know and love God with all our hearts,

honoring Him with unshakeable confidence,

and helping others to know Him as we do.

 

This new six-week series will equip us, as Christ followers,
to think and live with a consistent view of who God is,
reinforce the basis for our relationship with Him,
and remind us the responsibility we have to share our faith with others.

 

Week 1: The Hero

We all love heroes, don't we? We love the idea of a hero with super-human powers, that can come in at a moment's notice and save the day. Here's the problem with most all of our heroes. They are all just make-believe. There is no perfect hero. Or is there?

Week 2: The Producer

Question. When you look at this world, how do you look at this world? As you ponder that question, consider ten words – so simple a first grader could understand them. Profound – so profound a PHD from Harvard could never plum the depths of them. The first ten words are found at the beginning of the Bible and appropriately so for these ten words tell us how this world began.

Week 3: The Prize

I would submit to you today that the most valuable things in life, those things that really make life meaningful are not for sale. Good health is not for sale. A good marriage is not for sale. Obedient children are not for sale. Treasured friendships are not for sale. A good name is not for sale.

There is one thing that the vast majority of this world thinks is for sale that really is not. Whether you think it is for sale, or not for sale, will determine how you view, both God, yourself, and your relationship with God.

Week 4: The Villian

As we continue our series entitled “ViewMaster” which is helping you see this world through the eyes of the One who created it, you must believe in the greatest villain of all or else you will be like a man going to war against an enemy he doesn’t even believe is real with no ammunition in your gun. We are going to come face-to-face today with the most extraordinary being in the whole universe other than God himself. He is called all kinds of things – the Evil One, the adversary, the Prince of Darkness, the Father of Lies, Lucifer, and Satan, but he has one name that he answers to in practically every language – Diabolos, El Diablo, or who we call “The Devil.”

Week 5: The Secret Weapon

Have you ever thought about how many times you have got to do something or enjoy something or be a part of something that you would have never otherwise gotten to do or enjoy if someone had not told you about it? There are some of you here who have the job that you enjoy today, because somebody either told you about a job opportunity that was open or they told someone else, who was looking for someone to fill a job that you were the person to do it.

There may be some of you here today who feel like you are alive, because someone told you about a certain doctor or a certain hospital or a certain medical procedure that you otherwise would never have known about. Some of you have made wise investments that brought a great return on your money, because someone, at the right time, told you about a financial opportunity that you otherwise would never have known about. If you stop and think about it, it will amaze you how many places you get to in life just because somebody chose to share a story with you.

We are going to learn today from three statements in the Bible just how important it is not only to believe in truth, but to know what truth is, know where to find it and to understand how it can make an eternal difference in your life.
