Everyone worships something or someone. It's how we're wired. This new four-week series will challenge us to check our wiring and get to the heart of worship.
· June 8 – “Substance Over Style” The Bible teaches that every person is born with an innate knowledge that there is a God and also a desire to connect with that God. Everyone in the world worships something. You can call yourself secular. You can call yourself anti-religious, but everyone in this world values something so highly that they build their entire lives around it. For some, it is God. For some, it is money. For some, it is sex. For some, it is success. For some, it is fame. What makes it worship is that it is such a driving force in our lives that it shapes our emotions, our will, our thoughts, and our behavior. Two-thousand years ago, Jesus Christ walked into a world that was full of worshippers everywhere and made one statement that changed the concept of real worship forever…
· June 15 – “God and Your Bod” Take the word, worship. What comes to your mind? Most of the time we think about church, sermons, and music. Some would think stained glass, prayers, and, if you are a pastor, you always think about offerings. But, do these thoughts ever cross your mind when you think about the word, worship…eyes, ears, mouth, hands, legs, and feet. Worship is not just something that is spiritual; it is also something that is physical.
June 22 – “Just the Two of Us" Just as a husband and wife need time together, just as a father and son or mother and daughter need time together, we need time with our Father in Heaven – time where we simply bathe Him in loving worship, and bathe in His love for us. Call it whatever you want—a quiet time, a devotional life, time alone with God—God desires that time with us and we need it.
