About Alaska Missions
We are partnering with the GraceWorks Ministry in Alaska, and will be working with children, teens and adults in the diversely populated city of Anchorage. Asian, Samoan, Native Alaskan, Caucasian, African American and African peoples are all living here--a tremendous opportunity for international ministry. We will be doing service projects for local residents, parks and ministries among our activities there.
We are planning one-week trips in July and early August 2010, depending on the total number of participants, with teams of 10 being average, one team following the other. We are praying for a minimum of 50 participants and seeking God to provide as many as 120. Our tentative schedule is as follows:
- Team 1, July 11-19, 2010
- Team 2, July 18-26, 2010
- Team 3, July 25 - August 2, 2010
- Team 4, August 2-9, 2010
- Additional teams may be available in other areas beginning July 11.
Families are invited to attend! Ideally an Alaska mission would include 2-3 families, 2-3 children's workers and 2-3 from our church in general. If you've ever thought of going on mission with your kids and experiencing ministry together, this is a tremendous opportunity. Our typical weekly schedule for mission and ministry look something like this:
- Sunday, Arrive in Anchorage
- Monday, Orientation and Setup
- Tuesday - Friday, Work and Ministry Projects
- Saturday - Sunday, Sight-seeing and shopping
- Sunday night, Depart for Atlanta
Cost and Arrangements
Cross Pointe Church is coordinating housing, bedding, food, ministry programs and transportation. There will be 1-2 days of organized and guided sight-seeing included. Payment for all Alaksa trips is as follows: Deposit of $150 due March 1, second payment of $500 due by April 1 and final payment of $600 due by June 1.
