Seven Short Years
In less than a decade, God has grown Cross Pointe Church from less than 200 committed church starters to nearly 2,000 in attendance every week. The Pastor of a thriving church in North Atlanta, James Merritt stepped out in faith along with a small congregation to begin Cross Pointe, first meeting in a high school auditorium.

The generousity of several church members led to the purchase and donation of our present campus--a former missile factory that sat empty for years. Cross Pointe took another step of faith to borrow funds and renovate the facility into a usable church building. Read the whole story here...

2010... The Year To Not Step Out in Faith
In late 2009, God began impressing on Pastor Merritt the need to again step out in faith as a church. Through prayerful consideration and consultation with staff and lay leaders, a plan was revealed to challenge our church to pay off remaining debt on building renovations, and expand missions and ministry locally and globally.

The challenge could not have come at a worse time economically. The United States was in the middle of a difficult recession--members and guests were out of work, homes were being foreclosed and many astute minds warned agaist doing such a campaign at the time. But God's timing was perfect, and in faith we embarked on a challenge called Rise to the Occasion. We asked our members and guests to commit money over-and-above their budget tithes for a three-year period to reach these goals. Our worship services, a churchwide devotional and prayer emphasis, messages by the Pastor and information meetings with our members helped us to understand and pray through our commitment to Rise to the Occasion. Rising to the Challenge
On Sunday, November 7, 2010, Cross Pointe commited $5,778,228 toward Rise to the Occasion. It is by far the greatest financial stewardship commitment in the history of our church. The church's pledge met and exceeded our "Rise to the Challenge" goal of $5.5 million.

During this three-year period, we are updating this area of the website to keep members and guests informed of our Rise to the Occasion progress--and how we are stewarding these additional resources.
